Dunedin, June 15. A. Mercer reports for the week ending 15th June : — Retail prices only — Fresh butter, in and lib prints, best quality, Is 3d to Is 4d per lb, ;■ second quality, Is Id to Is2d ; fresh butter in lumps, Is perib"; powdered and salt butter, best quality;' is ; second quality, lOd. 'Fresh butter still continues to advance in price, the supply being very limited, storekeepers finding a ready sale without the necessity of Baiting down. For good samples of salt butter in kegs lOd per lb is being given. Cheese is in good demand ; best quality is worth 6d to 8d ; second ttuality, 6d per lb. more plentifnlT ~ "Prices have adWnwaril tendency, this week and range from 2s 3d to 2s 6d per doz. Wheat is slightly firmer. Holders of prime lots are asking 5s 4d, and at this rate several sales have been made during the week. Second class lots are unsaleable, and cannot be quoted. Fowl wheat is better supplied— dealers lots are placed at 3s 4d. Oats' continue extremely dull— excepting really good lots, sales cannot be made. Prime milling are worth Is 9d to Is lOd, and feeding Is 9d. For malting barley there is a lively demand at 5s Gd, very little is offering, and prices may be expected to be higher towards the end of the season. Inferior samples have buyers at 3s 9d Provincial potatoes are in good trade sale at 4s lOd. Good flour is at Ll3 for parcels, and Ll3 10a for trade quantities— the demand is brisk, and there is no appearance of the quotation becoming easier. In oatmeal thero is not much being done beyond a trade sale ; current parcels are met at Ll2. Pearl barley is Bcarce, L2O. Bran, L 2 10s ; pollard, L 6 ; straw, L2 los ; bay, L 3 15s ; chaff, L 3 15s ; carrota, L 2 10s.
