Dnnedin, June 8. In grain transactions have been much heavier this week. Prime lots of milling wheat are wanted, and 5s 3d may be quoted as the market price ; for ordinary good sorts 5s to 5s 2d is given. Fowl wheat is still scarce at 3s to 3s 3d. Oats continue almost unsaleable ; fine milling samples find but limited purchasers at Is lOd, and feeding are offering at Is 8d to Is 9d. Malting barley is actively inquired after, and we believe as high as 5s 4a has been given for a small parcel; inferior samples are scarce. Potatoes do not meet with more than a trade demand at L 4 10s to L 4 15s ; buyers for parcels are offering L 4. There is a good steady trade being done in flour ; parcels are moved at Ll3 ; and at this price a good deal has been quitted during the week ; small trade lots are at Ll3 10s. Oatmeal, Ll2 to Ll2 10s. Pearl Barley, scarce, L2O. Bran, L 2 10s. Pollard, L 6. Hay, L 3 15s. Chaff, L 3 15s. Straw, L 2 ss.

A. Mercer reports for the we*>k ending Bth June : — Retail prices only — Fresh butter, in 41b and lib prints, best quality, Is 3d to Is 4d per 3b, ; second quality, Is to Is 2d ; fresh butter in lumps, Is per lb ; powdered and salt butter, best quality, Is ; second quality, lOd. Fresh butter is at present very scarce, and finding a ready market without salting any down. For good samples of salt butter in kegs lOd per lb is asked. Cheese in good demand and very scarce, best quality from 7d to 9d per" lb. ; second quality, 6d to 7d per lb. Side and rolled bacon is very plentiful and selling at 9d to 10d per lb. Colonial hams, Is perlb. Eggs are still very scarce, and the demand is limited on account of the high price, 2s 6d to 2s 9d per doz.
