MINING MEMORANDA. CARRICK RANGE.
From the " Cromwell Argus, " May 21. The Heart of Oak Company washed up on Wednesday last. They obtained 330 03s. 11 dwts. from 179 tons of stone. This is the largost cake of gold yet obtained from the Eange. A dividend of 14s. per £10 share has been declared by the management. The Elizabeth Company expect daily to open communication with their upper workings, by driving from their tunnel to the shaft they have sunk, following the course of the reef. •It is a singular fact,' but a dyke seems to have cut off, or dislocated, the reef, at the point were the tunnel should have cut it. The dyke appears to run almosb at right angles to the course of the reef. The Robert Burns Company obtained 61 ozs. of gold from 50 tons of 'stoae. They have still a considerable quantity of surface stone to take out. ' The reef, at a depth," is as yet untried.
