BLUE SPUR. (From our Own Correspondent.)

There is much sickness in this township at present. The local M.D..'s have had a busy time of it ; but hitherto they have been successful in staying the hand of the fell destroyer. Mr. Armstrong, who died in the Hospital, was a member of the School Committee, and was an earnest l'»cal preacher, connected with with the Wesleyan body, by whom he will be greatly missed.

Mining matters are presenting a hopeful appearance, and our "glorious future " is looked forward to with confidence.

Mr. Thomas Hinde has just accepted a tender for an assembly room, which is to cost upwards of £250. Mr. A. Cormack, our local builder, is the successful tenderer ; and from the reputation which he has justly acquired, there is no doubt but that he will do justice to the work.

Inconsequence of the "call" to Mr. Cameron having been accepted by that gentleman, the Presbyterians of the Spur are looking forward to have a supply of gospel' ordinances every Sabbath ;' and I have heard that the new arrangement will take place after next Sabbath, provided Mr. Arnott has arrived at Waitahnna, at which place he is daily expected. Whether the present sickness has caused a re-action or not, 'l cannot say, but I have not heard of the *' Fij,i fever" of late. X hope we shall hear no more of it.
