STOCK REPORT.
Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report, for the week ending 18th May, as follows :—: —
Fat Cattle. — The supply was beyond the requirements of the trade. 55 head were yarded, of which 25 head were sold, the rest being turned out. We sold, privately, 100 head, at £6 round. We quot* prime quality 18s per ltOlbs ; middling d>, Ids. Fat Sheep.— soo penned. We sold 200 half-breds, fair quality, at lls 9d, and 100 merino wethers, good quality, at lls 6d. Other sales were 200 merino wethers, middling quality, at fro)tn 8s 3d to 9s. We also sold, privately, 300 half-bred*, at 12s 6d. We quote prime quality half-breds, 2f d per lb ; do meiinos, 2sd. Store Cattle. — There are enquiries for well grown cattle. Mixed herds are little sought after. We sold 250 bullocks and spayed cows, all over 2 years, at £3 2s 6d. We quote bullocks, £3 to £3 10s ; mixed lots, £2 5s to £2 10s.
Store Sheep. — We have numerous enquiries for all descriptions, and could place a considerable lot at fair rates. We sold 750 half-bred wethers, 2, 4, 6, and 8 tooth, at 11 4. We quote half -bred wethers, 10s to lls ; mixed ditt j lambs, 7s ; merino wethers, 5s 6d ; do ewes, 4 and 6 tooth, 5s to 5s 6d ; full mouthed, 3a 6d to 4s ; mixed lambs, 4s 6d to ss.
Horses. — For draught colts there is a good demand. light horses are neglected. We quote first-class draughts, £45 to £50 ; medium ditto, £25 to £30 ; good hacks and light harness horses, £18 to £22 ; medium ditto, £10 to £12 ; light. and inferior, £3 to £5 Grain. — Wheat. First-class samples are in good demand at from 5s to 5s 3d per bushel. Oats— depressed. Feed may be quoted at Is 9d to Is lOd per bushel ; milling, at Is lid to 2s. Barley.— Good samples, malting, are worth 5s to 5s 3d.
