The barque Mendoza and brig Star of the Mersey were to-day d towed to sea by the steam-tug Geelong. The s.s. Storm Bird was to-day taken out of the Floating Dock, and this evening proceeds to the Molyneux.
The s.s. Rangitira and Phoebe arrived today from Northern Ports.
The s.s. Tararua, for Melbourne, via the Bluff, sailed last evening. On her passage down the harbour one of the ship Wild Deer's boats, fitted with Mr Douglas's patent lowering apparatus, was lowered whilst the Tararua was going full speed. The Captain of the Alma was in the boat at the time of the experiment and speaks in the highest terms of praise of the practical working of this useful invention.
The Omeo was undocked this afternoon and sails this evening.
