IMPOUNDING.

Sir, -In last week's issue of your journal I observed an advertisement, which tilled me with surprise and indignation. The advertisement I allude to wan signed by Messrs. Margelts, Ev;ua, and Clayton, notifying that al! cattle found trespassing on their leased land would be impounded after date. Now, the hind in question is unfenced, and cattle have for years past been in the habit of running on it. Impounding off this land, before it is fenced, would he an ajt of the grossest injustice, and I hope that the good sense of the lessees will prevent them from doing it. While writing, T would like to draw Messrs. Margetts, Evans, and Clayton's, attention to two points. The first is, that the legality of goldtields' pounds is still disputed. The second is, that impounding off unfenced land is likely to be productive of serious consequences to the party impounding. — I am, &c, . ' CoCKATOO t
