WASTE LAND BOARD.

April 10.

The Waste Land Board met at noon today. Present Mr Reid in the chair, Messrs Bathpate and Hughes. A special sale of land in quarter-acre sections at Greytown and Queenstown was ordered to be tidverfcised for a month.

The Hanger was instructed to enquire into a complaint by F. Koberts, pastoral lessee, of cutting timber on 24a, with a view to the offender being prosecuted. Mr Brown's application to Jesse about 80 acres of Strath Taieri Reserve as a ferry was adjourned.

George Duncan'sTapplication for license to cat bush on the reserve blocks, Maangatua,

was declined.

Michael Minaghan's application was withdrawn.

David Stewart's application to purchase a quarter of an acre at Naseby was referred to the Warden.

Oa the application of the pastoral lessees, Manipori, it was resolved to get the carrying capacity of the country assessed, and the right of lease sold by auction on the usual terms.

Connell and Moodie's application for Joseph Clarke to purchase 9454 acres in runs 215 and 212 B, was received with the consent of the runholder to the sale. The consideration of it was postponed to to-morrow.

Connell and Moodie applied that G. F. B. Poynter should be declared purchaser of 640 acres pre-emptive right en Run 140 d.

A letter was read from the hon. secretary of the Mount BvUger Progress Committee, expressing surprise and regret at the decision in Sir Clarke's application, and the opinion that the 1920 acres ought to be' thrown open for agricultural leases. Mr Trurable's application' for pre-emptive right on his run was approved. rlenry Morton's protest against Messrs Cable and Drummoud's purchase of part of Waipori Bush was postponed, waiting the Ranger's report.

In reply to Mr M 'Lean's application respecting Mr Valentine's application, it was directed that he be informed the matter is in abeyance pending a report from the Warden.

Messrs Mollisou and Kilgour's application to purchase 20 acres on Run 257 was approved. An application by C. W. Adams to purchase section 111, block 1, Tuapeka East, held under au agricultural lease, was sanctioned on the usual terms.
