REEFING IN MARLBOROUGH.

The following reference to a new reefing district is from the Marlborough "Express:" — Sundry flaring proclamations in the Provincial Government " Gazette" issued to-day would lead the casual observer to imagine that some thing great had occurred in the gold finding line, if not qualified by an explanation. It is pretty well known, however, to most readers that for some time past a prospecting party has been exploring the rocky coast at a place a little north of Queen Charlotte Sound, known as Cape Jacrson, and situate at Ravenscliff, Mr. Turner's run, where some three years ago indications were apparent. Latterly, JVlessj^LJEnnier, Greenlaw, and Nic 1—""1 —"" !lTve developed a reef affording fair prospects, crossing from water to water, the narrow spur forming the cape. Of course, under those circumstances it is difficult to say anything as to the extent of the ground as only this reef has been found as yet ; but we n:a/ warn outsiders that owing to the natural difficulties of the country, not only provisions, but water, would have to be carried up. The beach is almost impossible for landing, while the results of a visit would assuredly be nil. The portion of the run included with the gold fields by the legal notices " referred to is only about 150 acres in extent, and is so proclaimed simply to give the prospectors a legal title, and so enable them to further develop the indications already found.
