WASTE LAND BOARD.

April 3.

The Waste Land Board met at noon to-day. Present— Mr Reid (in the chair), Messrs Duncan, Hughes, and bathgate. On the report of Mr Warden Kobinson, W. O. Ball's offer, to purchase 43 acres of Run No. 80, was declined.

Complaints were read of burning flax and grass on Crown lands at Waihola, and of bush in the Tuapeka district. On the first, the Ranger was instructed to enforce Clause 12 of the Depasturing Regulations ; and on the second the complainant waa referred to his own solicitor.

The Ranger on the Mataura Hundreds was instructed to enforce the Depasturing Regulations in regard to cattle. It was resolved, on the application of Robert Sinclair, to offer the remainder of block 1, section 16, adjoining the Town of Beauly, East Taieri, as land of special value, on the usual conditions as to survey. Upset price, Ll per acre. A petition not to sell certain land in the Traquair Hundred was refeircd to the Warden for report. On Thomas Fratt's application for a right to look out for and land whales in the Peninsula at Waikouaiti, it was resolved that Mr Bradshaw be informed that there is a right of road 66 feet wide round the Peninsula not included in his license.

The plan of D. Matheson's pre-emptive right was approved. Henry Beaumont's application to purchase sections 7 and 8, block 1, Table Hill, was granted. John Richardson's application to purchase the site of his hotel at Cromwell was approved.

The Clutha Contract. — The Clutha contract, formerly let to M'Laren and Co., has been re-let to-day to Messrs Blair and Watson for L 13.478 3s lOd. We understand the Genera] Government has adopted the -rule of publishing the names and amount of the accepted tenders only.
