WASTE LAND BOARD.
A meeting of the Waste Land Board was held on Wednesday last. Thei*e were present Mr- Reid (in the chair), and Messrs Duncan, Hughes, and Bathgate? Mr. Peter Howard applied to have the coal lease granted to himself and Mr. William Hill issued in his name, as he had become the purchaser of Mr. Hill's interest. The application was sanctioned.
Mr. E. Anyes applied to purchase from 30 to 40 acres of open land included in the Puketapu Bush Reserve, and situate at the east end of the Bush. It was agreed that the land be offered by auction at the upset price of 21s per acre, with the surveyor's fees added.
A memorandum of the Chief Harbour Master on the application of Mr. Fenwick to purchase a 10-acre lighthouse reserve, in block IV., Oamaru district, was read. The application was declined.
Mr. Michael Monagban applied to purchase a vacant piece of land adjoining section 1, block LTV., Lawrence The application was referred to the district Warden for his report upon it. Mr. Thomas Johnstone applied to purchase 10 or 12 acres of Akatore Bush Reserve, in which he had made improvements, under timber license. It was resolved that the land be surveyed at the cost of the applicant, and sold by auction as land of special value — the survey fees and value of improvements to be added to the upset price.
• Messrs. Connell and Moodie, for Mr. Thomas Brigson, applied to have section 3, block 11., Akatore, put up for sale at 10a per acre, with valuation. The Board reconsidered the minute of 2 1st September, 1870, which provided that the section should be offered at 25s per acre. It appeared that the laud had been offered at that price, and not sold, and it was now resolved to grant the application.
The Board declined the application of Mr. ' George Ludemau to have the fee payable under his license, to occupy section 29, blcck XX., Shotov.er, reduced to £3.
The application of Mr.- Richard Allan for a lease of about 20 acres of Clinton township was referred to the district Ranger for his report thereon.
The application of Mr. Richard Craigie to purchase section 49, block 1., Clarendon, being an island in the Taieri River, was postponed.
