NOTICE. A MEETING of the Quadrille Club will be held in the Victoria Hotel, Peel-street, on Saturday evening, the 16th inst., at eight o'clock. BANK HOLIDAY. liTONDAY, the 18th instant, being St, Patrick's Day, the Banks in Lawrence will be closed. THE ROMAN CATHOLIC School Committee beg to inform the inhabitants of Tuapeka and surrounding districts, that they intend to have ATHLETIC SPORTS and other amusements, on the 18th MARCH, AT THE TUAPEKA RACE COURSE. The principal object of the Sports, &c, &c, will be to aid the funds m paying for the new R. C. School. The Sports will COMMENCE AT 11 O'CLOCK, and consist of Hurling, Horse Racing, Foot-ball, and other amusements. Luncheon will be supplied at the Course. A FANCY FAIR will be also held on the ground, which will consist, of a varied and well-selected stock of useful adjuncts to personal and household wants. THE PRIZES for competitioi consist of a large Silver Cup, value JO guineas, Saddles, Bridles, &c, &c. The Tnapeka Jockey Club have kindly -jonsented to superintend the racing department. A GRAND BANQUET will be held in the new Schoolroom at 8 o'clock p.m. The Dunedin ST. PATRICK'S BAND, Twenty-two in number, have kindly consented to play at the Sports and Banquet. Double tickets to Banquet - 10s. 6d. Single „ „ - 7s. 6d. The Committee, solicitous for the comfort and convenience of intending guests, have the honour to request that an early application be made for the tickets, in order to prevent disappointment and inconvenience. Tickets to be had at the principal Btores and hotels io the district. Suitable caps and hurdles can be had of the Committee. RACE PROGRAMME. Judge : Horace Bastings, Esq. Stakteb : William Sheath, Esq. St. Patrick's Cup Handicap. — Silver Cup, valne 10 guineas ; entrance, 15s. ; distance, twice round the Course. • x Ladies' Handicap. — Saddle and Bridle, value £10 , entrance, 10s. ; distance, one mile heats. Hack Hurdle Race. — Saddle and Bridle, value £10 ; entrance, 10s: ; one mile heats, over three flights of hurdles, 3ft. 6in. high.
