The first crushing of the Doran reef Wangapeka, has been a failure. The excuse is that the Mining Manager in temporary charge at Doran's appears to have neglected the use of chemicals in winning the gold, although known to be of so fine a natm-e that two-thirds of it will pass through leather. The Manager of the Perseverance Company has been sent forj,o remedy matters if possible,
