WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held on Wednesday, the 2Sth tilt.

Mr. W. O. Ball applied for reconsideration of his application to purchase 43a. 3r. 24p. on run No. 80, with consent of runholder. The application was referred to Secretary for Lands.

A report was read from the Chief Commissioner upon the alleged wrongful issue of Crown Grant to Mr. L. Gruning, instead of to Mr. John Bruce. The Board decided that the applicant (the latter) had no claim for payment of the loss said to have been sustained.

Mr. John Carson applied for a lease of a piece of land on the boundary of Mr. M'Kellar's runs, No. IG3 and 178. It was resolved that he be requested to furnish a sketch of <he land applied for to the Board. Mr. Ho worth, for Mr. John Richai'ds,

applied to purchase an acre of land at. Bannockbnrn, and on which his house and promises are situate. The application was agreed to ; price, £5 ; the land to be surveyed by the district surveyor at the applicant's expense, and survey approved by the Board.

Mr. John Simon applied for a lease of Dalhousie township. It was resolved that the township be abandoned, with the approval of the Government, and the west side be offered far sale as rural land, and the east side be opened to be taken up under agricultural lease.

Messrs Atkins and Wills wrote representing the necessity for opening the Bench reserve, block XX., Shotover, as a road for driving cattle. It was resolved to maintain the i*eserve,- but not to authorise its use as a road at present.

Messrs. Connell and Moodie, on behalf of Mr. William 'M'Farlane, submitted a letter in jjeference to an application of Mr. Dugald Matheson for a pre-emptive right on run 140. It was resolved that the surveyor be informed that he, must not survey bush licensed by the Waste Lands Board, nor allow Mr. Matheson to take up bush, as such, is excluded from - his run.
