APPLICATION FOR A MINING LEASE. sth Jan., 1871. To the Warden, Lawrence. SIR, — We herewith deposit the sum of Twenty Poundsj as required by the mining leases regulations of Otago, and we agree, if our application ("the particulars of which are hereunder set forth) bo investigated, that such sum shall in all respects be held subject to the terms of such regulations, and that upon the approval of this application, we will execute a lease upon the basis therein stated, if the Governor shall think fit to grant the same. — we have honor to be, sir, your obedient servants, John McHattie. Johx Smith. Name and Address of Applicants — John McHattie and John Smith. Style under which it is intended to conduct the Business —McHattie, Smith and Oompany. Extent of Land applied for — Ten acres. Minimum number of men to he employed by the Lessees — For the first six months, six men ; suqsequently, when in full work, twelve men. Amount of capital proposed to be invested —Three Thousand Pounds (£3000.) Proposed mode of working the land — By tunnelling, sinking, and taking out quartz, and crushing the same by machinery. Precise locality — Walsh c's Gully, behind John Cousin's residence, and about 200 yards from Gabriel's Gully. Terms of which lease required — Fifteen years. Time for commencing operations — Immediately after the granting of the certificate. The above application, and any objection thereto, will be heard before the Warden, at Lawrence, on the 31st day of January, 1872. Any person desiring to object to the granting of a mining lease I upon said application, must, within 25 days from the date of said application, lodge his objections at my office at Lawrence. W, L. The above application, and any objection thereto, wnl be heard before the Warden, at Lawrence, on the 31st day of Januaiy, 1872. IN conformity with the 29th Section of the Goldfields Act, 1866, and -to the Regulations made under that Act and the Goldfields Acts Amendments Acts of 1867, 3868. and 1869, for the granting of leases for- gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified- that it is intended to grant a lease" for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant spocifiud in the annexed schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against granting such lease. ; Objections to the granting of such lease, | stating the grounds of objection, must be < made in writing and lodged with the War1 den, at Lawrence, on or before the 24fch day of January,. 1872. Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden's Office 'ai Lawrence.
