HOSPITAL SUBSCRIPTIONS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, — "With reference to your report of the Hospital Committee Meeting in your last issue I beg to send my compliments to Mr. Simpson for moving a resolution calling upon me to give up a Subscription List, on which I had got a number of names and some few shillings, and that if I should refuse, proceedings would be taken to recover the same. Why proceedings to be taken ? I never refused to give up the list. And I can take my solemn oath that neither tr.e Secretary or any member of the Committee ever asked me for it. I therefore consider that Mr. Simpson has acted anything but the part of a gentleman in moving any such resolution. And moreover I asked Mr. McKimmie, who is a member of the Committee, six weeks or two months ago. that he had better take the list that I had, and collect in the money before the end of December, 1871, as he had got a number of names to the same list. This he agreed to do. I have also to inform Mr. Simpson that if he looks at the lists he will find it there stated that they do not require to be sent in till- the 31st day of December, 1871. Thanking him for his kindness. I remain, &c, M. Hat.
