It is well-known that this Company have been struggling with difficulties ; that tbe fluming in question was only recently put up at a cost of over £300 ; that of the parties in this claim many of them have large families, and it need not be told, that which is -wellknown, that this calamity, coupled with loss of time and other detracting influences, has well ni#h ruined them. I believe there is a universally felt

sympathy for this company, and I understand that a feeling prevails that something ought to he done to alleviate their misfortune, and that this case is one which ought to receive the earliest attention. ,In order to test this sympathy I and my mate will ench subscribe a guinea, and if every miner on the Spur will do the same the damage will be soon impaired. Our subscriptions will be payable at the " Tuapeka Times " office, and if this small offer should be liberally endorsed I for one will not r,egret that my name is. Blue bpur, Samaritan.
