WETHERSTONE'S SPORTS.

Although the weather was gloriously fine, the assemblage of spectators at WeUierstone's Annual Sports on Boxing Day, was not equal to that of past years. The number of competittors too was extremely limited. The sports commenced at about 1 o'clock, at which hour, however, very few were present. Towards 3 o'clock the concourse was largest, and from that time it gradually dwindled away. A large portion of the spectators were ladies and children, and certainly their »ay summer costumes had a most charming effect.

A number of celestials also visited the ground, and testified by grins of supernal hidiousness their admiration of the various feats they witnessed.

Mr. F. Bastings and Mr. Cranley catered for the refreshment of the public in their usual creditable style, and their efforts §to suit the tastes of their customers, judging from the patronage they secured, seemed to be well appreciated.
