SPIRITUAL MINING.
A Californian paper gives the following story of spiritual mmmg :— «-Mr f Patterson, of Cope district, who appears to understand quartz talk, as well as an old stager does horse talk, has given us a full history of the rise and progress of Bull Run district, as also Cope and its surroundings. But the queerest of all the information he brings is that during last winter Captain Cook had occasion to visit Chicago, and while there was induced to take a hand in a spiritual circle. A lady medium by means of the spirits, found out the captain was from Cope, and told him to go home,, and in a certain direction, so many feet from the main shaft of the Monkey ledge,' to sink down twelve jfeet when he would find a rich four-foot ledge, and that at the depth of twenty feet it would increase to twelve. The captain, not being a believer in spirit tual revelation, paid but little attention to the matter until a short time since he told somo men of the circumstance, and they undertook to find the ledge, agreeing in case of success to give the captain 200 ft. Sure enough, at the depth of twelve feet, they uncovered a strong four-foot ledge, on which they are all sinking with every prospect of its increasing to twelve feet by the time they reach the required twenty feet. Specimens taken from this discovery, which^jis yet we have not heard a name for, assay as high as 15,000d0l per ton,
