(G-reville & Co., Renter's Agents.) Wellington, Nov. 10, 11.15 a.m. Mr. J. C. Brown's motion, that the railway from Tokomairiro to Liwrence be placed in the first schedule of main lines for immediate construction, was carried last evening in the House of Representatives. The House was unanimous in favour of ifc, and the G-overnment expressed their approval. The Assembly will .be prorogued on Monday. Nov. 14th, 4 p.m. The Legislative Council passed the Immigration and Public Works Bili, but with important amendments. They struck out clauses 19 to 45, and all clauses relative to water supply for the Goldfields. This last is unimportant, as action can be taken under the Act of 1870. The Council also iutroduoed clauses providing for the creation of a Board of Advice. This will not be agreed to, but other amendments, under tlie circumstances, will probably be accepted. The Railway Bill passed the Council Avithout material amendments. November 15th. In the Assembly, Mr. Vojjel has just stated his reasons for disagreeing with the amendments made by the Council. Pie spoke strongly regarding the striking out of the clauses relating to branch railways, rating power, and Goldfields water supply. The prorogation stands indefinitely postponed. 3 p.m. A free conference between the two Houses is now sitting ; Managers for Assembly — Yogel, G-isborne, Donald M'Lean; for Council — Whitmore, Sewell, and Holmes. Both Houses have adjourned till 5 r.m. A subscription has been started for Hay's widow. The amount collected exceeds .£IOO The " Independent" administers a severe caßtigation to Mr. GK B. Barton. A telegram from Auckland slates that the ketch Mosquito wiis wrecked at Kapiti on Sunday. The master and another man are missing. Dunedin, Nov. 15th The rifle match between Walker and Christie will come off on Monday, at Forbury Park.
