TUAPEKA RAILWAY.
The following letter has been received by the Tuapeka Railway Committee :—: — Public Worke Office, Wellington, 17th October, 1871. SlB, — I have the honour, by direction of Mr. G-isborne, to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 4th inst., in which you call attention to the advantages which will acrue from the construction of the line from Tokomairiro to Lawrence, and in reply to thank you for the suggestions which that letter contains. Mr. OHsborne further directs me to forward to you the enclosed copied of the Public Works Statements made respectively by himcelf and the Hon. Mr. Yogel, which will inform you fully on the policy of the Government in respect to the canstruction of branch or feeder lines, and "from which you will learn that future action will depend on the course taken by the General Assembly.
