WASTE LAND BOARD-

At & meeting .of the Wasta Lands Board, held on the 13th inst., Mr. J. D. Walker applied for a lease of two acres in Queenstown, for a soap manufactory. Xhe application was declined, as the land applied for was being surveyed into allotments for sale.

The request of Mr. Charles Kichards, Tnapeka Mouth, for further time to pay for a bush license, was refused, the Crown Commissioner to take action at once in the event of non-pay-ment.

The application of Mr. Daniel Hunter, to purchase section 120. block 11., Tuapeka east, and held under "agricultural lease ,was granted. His application ..to purchase section 10, same block, was declined.

Mr. Morrison applied to purchase one-and-half acre near Switzers, for a Presbyterian Church manse site. It was i % esolved that the land be sold under the 64th clause of the Waste Lands Act, 18GS, as lands of special value, being near a township, and at the upset price of £5 per acre, valuation for improvements to be added to the upset priqe.

The following business was transacted at .the meeting of the Board held on Wednesday the 18th inst.

A note was taken of a report forwarded by Ranger Irving, that bushcutters in Tuapeka West had cut down a large quantity of timber, with the 'intention of taking advantage of a track being formed by Messrs. Drury and Simpson. ■

The Moa Flat School Committee made application to have 10 acres within the block applied for by Mr. Clarke, aud in which the district; school stood, set apart as a school Reserve. It was resolved that the Government be requested to reserve the 10 acres.

The following applications to purchase land held by the applicants under agricultural lease were approved of:— Mr. A. Thompson, sections, 24 and 25, UookVIL, Waifcahuna.

The application of Mr. John .Ross, to purchase sections 16, 17, 19, and 20, block V., Waitahuna East, and held under agricultural lease, was sanctioned in so far as the laud would not interfere with the railway. That of Mr. Thomas Miller, to purchase sections 1 and 22, block yil., same district, and so held by him, was sanctioned, subject to a reserve for a road.

Mr. Reid, • for Messrs Herbert, Howat, and Co., applied fora reduction of fee for the "Victorian Sawmill, Tapdtiui, on the ground that the engine is not entirely used for sawing. It was resolved that the company be charged for 18 horse-power.

The valuation of improvements made ou sections in block XXVf., Clyde, were approved of, and it was resolved that the land be sold at the upset price of Is 6d per foot frontage to back street, valuation for improvements to be added.
