This Society has been formed by an alteration .of the '.Oonafitution rf the Second New .'Zealand Building and Mutual Investment Society, 186£. By its Constitution it is able to transact, every description of business usually undertaken by Building Societies, both on the terminating and the permanent principle. Two Series of Shares on the terminnting system are at present in force —one dating from FebruaTy, 1864, and the other • from Fel ruary, 1870, The Society has the power to ftart new series of such shares at any time when it may appear advisable. Two Nt-w Series of Shares, called Shares of Class A and Class B in the Permanent Serjes, are n<vw being issued. Shares in Class A are of the. amount of twenty-five pounds each, the principal being paid up in one sura. On these half-yearly dividends are pnid at the rate of nine per cent, per annum, and an annual bonus out of the surplus profits. They may be Withdrawn at nny time on three months' notice, and form tlie most eligible investment for surplus funds now to be found in the money market. Shares in Class B are of twenty-five pound* each, and will be realised after seventy-five monthly payments of five shillings eacli have been made. The holders of them will also be -.entitled to a bonus on renlisntion, eq'ial to >» proportionate share of the surplus profits of the Society during the period ov?r which the monthly payments have run The moneys of the First and Second Series are advanced to Shareholders on mortgage of freehold or L asphold proper! ies, or upon Sh'i res in the SDcigJy wholly or in part p»id np. The Amounts available for advance are sold by auction at the monthly meetings to the highest bidder, who, from the date of the advance, pays a redemption fee of 10s. per month for each L6O Share advanced until the terminaiion of the Series. Moneys of the Permanent Series are lent on similar securities, repayable by monthly instalments extending over a fixed number of years.
