In the House of Commons Mr. Taylor called attention lo the evils attending the labour traffic in tie South Se.ts. Tie G iveriminit stated that the Colonial Office was determined to stop slavery, but deprecated any premature jud'gtni'iit being arrived at in tie matter. Tiie Queensland authorities were making an effort to conduct the immigration of su*h labourers properly, but if they could n t do so in a legitimate manner, the Home Government would stop it. The Hon. Arthur Kinnaird expressed his dissatisfaction with the reply given.
