This Society has been formed by an alteration of the Constitution of the Second- JSTew Zealand Building and Mutual Investment Society, 1864. ' v, - By its Constitution it is able to trnn«act every description of business usually under-, taken by Building Societies, both on the terminating and the permanent principle. Two Series of Shares on the terminating system are at present in force —one dating from February, 1864, and the othex from February, 1870. The Society .has the power to etart new series of such shares at auy time when it may appear advisable. > b ~,* Two New Series of Shares; called Shares of Class A and Class B in the Permanent Series, are now being issued. Shares in Chiss A are of the amount of twenty-five pounds each, the principal being* paid >up in one sum. On these half-yearly dividends are paid at the rate of nine per cent per annum, and an'annnal bonus out of the surplus profits. They may be withdrawn al any time on three months' notice, and form the most eligible investment for surplus funds now to be found in the money market. Shares in Class B are of twenty-five pounds each, and wiJLJje realised after seventy-five monthly payjrgj|tj£ of five shillings each have been made. holders of them will also be entitled to ati^jghus ori realisation, equal to a proportionate slxtcte, o£-tlie surplus profits of 'the Society durln^F^ period ov,er wln<*h the monthly paymerite have run. The moneys of the First-and Second Series are advanced to Shareholders on mortgage of freehold or li asehoM properties, or upon Sh u-e.« in the St>ciety .wholly or in' part paid up. The arnounts'available for advance are sold by auction at the 'monthly meetings to the highest bidder, who, from^the date of the a'lvnnce pays a redemption fre of 10s. per month for each L6O Share advanped, until the termination of the Series.
