A disturbance has occurred at Strasburg between the Prussians and the citizens. Numbers of both parties were killed.
It is reported that serious disagree-ments-have arisen between the French and German Governments in reference to Frankfort peace negotiations. These difficulties are likely to lead to complications, resulting in suspension of the treaty of peace entered into at Frankfort.
Purls is reported to be in a, very excited condition. A revolt of the army is expected. Humours are afloat that M' Mali on will be declared Regent General.
There is a stampede frdm Paris, in the belief tbat trouble and a crisis are at hand. The Orleanists' scheme hi ripe for a coup d'etat.
A proposition for making M. Thiers permanent President has been tabled. M. Thiers is consequently very unpopular.
Two f .tal cases of cholera have occurred in Paris, and three cases are reported to have taken place on board vessels from Constantinople.
Scott's centenary was celebrated in London on the 15 th August by a banbuet, at which 400 literary men were present. Celebrations took place in New York and various other American towns on the same day. The Edinburgh celebration took place on the 9th on a most magnificent scale and was very successful.
