A REPLY.

(To tlie Editor.)

Sra, — I perceive in your issue of this inornmq that a correspondent, signing his name Quiz, questions me. My answer is this, that I recommended my wife not to apply for the situation of sewing mistress, bub on finding her fully determined to do bo, and her religious persuasion differing from mine, I left her to her own will with this injunction, that the children should not go the school simply for this reason, that I consider the religious training of children most important ; and in the Roman Catholic schools this duty devolves on the clergy, who take every pains to impart a sound religious education, and I deem them, from their course of studying the divine truths, to fit them for the ministry of Christ more efficient than lay ■fceacheys. ' .

My language, in reference to my children, may soititd harsh, but my meaning is this, rather than have their religious principles interfered with, or that they might have a wrong inculcation of the Scriptures imnlanted on their tender minds so as to endanger their souls from eternal bliss, I would, much as I love my children, sooner see them meet with an early «rave and die within the pales of that church for which their forefathers suffered so much, — I am, &c,
