Inferior quality fetched little over store rates. Fat Sheep. — About 1100 were penned, none of which were of better than medium quality. 500 merino wethers found purchasers at 2|d per lb, aud the balance were sold at 6s as stores. We quote prime half-breds 3jd tv 3£d ; do, merinos, 2|d to 3d per lb. Store Cattle and Store Sheep. — No transactions. Country Sales. — On Weduesclay, the 30th ult., we held a sale at Clarendon Farm, Waihola, on account of James Grey, Esq. Owing, however, to the inclemency of the weather, the attendance was rather limitted, necessitating the withdrawal of the greater part of the cattle. 15 bullocks, 3 years old, fetched £3 12s 6J ; 10 ditto, 2 to 3 years, from 30s to 65s ; light draught horses,, £20 to £21 ; saddle and light harness horses, £3 to £11. Horses. — There still exists a good demand for heavy draught stock. We expect by the Tararua, to arrive from Melbourne about the 7th inst , a very superior shipment of 50 first-class draught mares and geldings, and two unusally good draught stallions— for all which a fair competition may be anticpated. We quote first-class draughts, £45 to £50 ; middling do, £30 to £35 ; good hacks and light harness horse, £15 to £20 j middleing do, LlO to Ll2 ; light and inferior, L3toL7. Grain . — The market is still characterised by dulless. In wheat, the transactions are very few, but holders of good samples will not part with them* under full rates . The demand for oats has slightly improved, without any advance in price.
