This Society has been formed by an alteration of the Constitution rf the Second New Zealand Building aud Mutual Investment Society, 1861. By its Constitution it is able to transact every description of business usually undertaken by Building Societies, both on the termi at ing and the permanent principle. Two Series of Shares on the terminating system are at present in force —one dating from February f 1864, and the othe? from Fe ruary, 1870. The Society has the power to start new aeries of such shares at any tiniiwhen it may appear advisable. Two New Series of Slum s, called Shares of Clas« A and Class B in the Permanent Series, iir • now being issued. Stiares in i 1 ss A are of the amount of twenty -five pounds each, the principal being paid up in one sum. Ou these half-yearly dividends are paid ut the rate of nine percent per annum, and an annual bonus out of the surplus profit*. They may be withdrawn at any time on three months' notice, and iorm the most eligible investment for surplus lunda now to be foimd in the money market. Shares iv Class B are of twenty-five pounds e.ioh, and will be realised after seventy-five monthly payments of five shillings eacli have been madu. The holders of them will a's> bo entitled to a bonus on realisation, equal to a pioportionate share of the surplus profits of the Society during the period over whi<*h the monthly payments have run The mime;! s of the First and Second Series are advanced to Shareholders on mortgage of freehold or Last-hoM propei ties. or upon Sh ires in the Soiiety wholly or in part pdd up. The amounts available for advance are sold by auction at the monthly meetings to the highest bi.lder, who, from the date of the advance, pays a redemption fee of 10s. per month for each L6O Snare advanced until the termination of the Series. Moneys of the Pfrmanent Series are lent on similar securities, repayable by monthly instalments extending over a fixed number of yea-s.
