Auckland, July 28th. via Napier, July 31sfc. In the Caledonian claim the sinking of a new shaft has been stopped, and work has been resumed in the old winze. Four tons of specimens have been taken ont dating the last few days, and shares have risen to LI 93. The share mirket is active, Tonkey's shares aye at L 36 ; Ota'4o L 4 ; Albion, Lls ; Tokatea, L 4 53. The trial trip of the Tokafcea ti'amway is causing an improved demand for shares in Coromandel claims.
It is proposed to amalgamate the Long Drive, All Natioas, Junction, and Inverness claims, in the respective proportions of 7000, 5000, 3000. and 2000 shares, making the total number of shares in the new Company 17,000.
The Central Italy claini has struck good gold, and its shares are now quoted at 455.
The Ohinemuri natives have found some rich quartz, and are getting more disposed to open up the country. Te Hira .has made a present to Tavvhiao's • daughter of a large block of Ohinemuri laud.
The Flirt, from Levuka, brings tho news that the s.s. City of Melbourne arrived there on the 14th, 24 days out from Sau Francisco.
