GERMANY.
In the German Parliament Prince Bismarck said that the task he had undertaken — the establishment of the Empire — was now nearly accomplished, and his health being bad, it was his personal wish to retire from active duty. He remained in office only to advocate the complete restoration of the provinces of Alsace and Lorraine to the Fatherland.
