HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR IS DUE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, — In a recent issue of your paper a report appeal's of the successful festivities which graced the opening of Mr. Orraond's Hotel, Roxburgh. Now, sir, I am sorry to say this report is a mass of glaring inaccuracies, and in no way does justice to the subject it pretends to deal with. With your kind permission I shall correct one or two of the blunders, and more especially that one which concerns the ladies. Tour reporter says that the banquet was arranged and superintended by Mesdames Orraond and Mackay. Now, the mention of the latter lady must suiely be a mistake, as everything was, in fact, done by Mrs. Ormond, assisted by Mrs. Rickards. To these ladies the entire credit is due, and to no others. Let, then, the hon our — and it is no slight one — of conducting this highly successful festival be given to those to whom it is justly due. In another portion of the report I observe a lengthy oration, which I am certain never was spoken, and a gentleman alluded to as chairman who, I am equally sure; never occupied that honourable posititm. I trust that in future you will be more careful as to the. accuracy of any statements from this district to which you may give publicity. — I am, &c, Fairplay. Teviot, July 20th.
