SPECIAL MEETING.

A special meeting of the Council was held on Thursday evening, to consider the report of the Reserves Committee upon the applications made to mine on the Municipal p.iddoek. All the Councillors were pr^spnt. Or. Mears, acting Mayor, occupied the chair. The Committee's report was to the following effect : — That having visited the ground, and considered all the bearings of the two applications, they recommended that Wm. Sutton and Co. '3 application should be granted. It appeared from the conversation which followed that M'Kee and Co. had continued, to work the ground after the Council instructed them to desist, and thus set the Council at defiance. The report was unanimously adopted, and the Council adjourned.
