A Poltoe Court Orvtion. — James Forbes was recently fined §6. in Troy, N. V., for drunkenness, and then delivered the following oration in the Police Court : — " Ladies and Gentlemen here assembled : It has never before fallen to my lot to speak to so numerous and diversified an audience. Here, I behold all classes represented, and here I look upon faces that be.tin with intelligence. I see around me representatives of the bar, of that great fulcrum, the press, and look upon the guardians of the law, to whom lam indebted for the safety of my $100 bill. Bofore you, Mr. Justice Donohue, I am brought to answer the charge of having violated the laws of my country. To me she is the personification of liberty and justice. lam thankful she has such fine servants as took charge of me when my mind was besotted and saved my $100 bill. Here is that precious treasure, take out, what you want for keeping me all night, return the change and use me like a man. I am glad this morning to find my own dear self in suoh good condition, and you, gentlenun of tlu police, have tny thanks. Another time I will liquidate jour services. My name is James Forbes, 1 live in North Broadalbin, Pulton County, the oounty seat whereof is at Johnstown, f am not ashamed of my uauift, nor of my ptrents, though they ar3 dead and gone this quarter of a century. You have used me like a man, and I guarantee to do the same by you.
