In March, New Zealand securities were as follows: — Sixes, January 1 to July 1, 108 to 110; business done, 109 i. London, March 17th. — Sirce the close of the first sales on the 27th February, there has been considerable enquiry for wool, and tho stock of old wool has been almost entirely cleared. The supply for the April-May sales will be moderate, and a healthy competition and firm prices are expectud at those sales.
Tallow is at 35s to 43s 6d for mutton, and 37s to 41s 9|d for beef. 2100 packages kauri gum, clean, scraped, selected, and . transparent, have been sold at 90s to 155s per csvt. ; second sorts at 45s to 70s ; and inferior, according to quality, from 52t» down to 10s for sittings and dust. 100 tons were recently shipped to America from London.
About 3200 bales of New Zealand flax, and 200 bales of tow, were put up at auction, and 1500 bales of the former and 140 of the latter were sold. 800 bales were also sold privately. Eecent arrivals have brought 1300 bales, the bulk of which is improved in colour and quality. The prices for good kinds are improved, while those for inferior sorts are a little lower. At the public sales prices were as follows: — Half-dressed, £14 to £18 ; do, rather better, £16 10s to £18 ss; good, three-parts -dressed, £23 15s to £26 5s ; well cleaned, but mixed in colour, £26 to £28 ss; superior, £34 ; tow, £12 to £13 10s. LoifJDO>r, April 7th. — The corn trade has been fluctuating since tbe 21st February. Wheat has riisen 2s. and flour'* ls. New Zealand wheat, on the 17th March, was at 60s for good sorts, to 62s for superior, per 4961b5, and E.J.F. 60s forSOOlbs, bags woi^hedanas wheat. The wheat from Canterbury shipped last year in the Jessie Headman, Celestial Queen, Christian M'Ausland, and Don G-uillerino was all of superior quality, while that by the Caduceus was of various qualities and mouldy, being unpaleablo uutil passed over to the trustees of the Patent. Liverpool, April 7th. "Wheat is at 12s 2d per cental, or 7s 5d per bushel. Sax FitA-XCisco, April Bth.
Elour, in sacks, is at 7 dols. 25 cents, to 7 dols. 50 cents, per 198 pounds. In wheat, prices have advouced during the week. Choice qualities are quoted at 2 dol*. .GO cents, per 100 lbs, and at New York at 1 dol. 80 cents, per bushel. Brewing barley is at 1 dol. 6 (? 60) cents, to 1 dol. 70 cents. Closing quotations are 1 dol. 55 cents, to 1 dol. 60 cents. per 100 lbs. The market for oars is firm. 3000 sacks of fair to choice have been quitted at 1 dol. 65 cents. to 1 dol. 80 cents, per 100 lbs. The minimum price fixed tor the New Zealand loan was £95 10s. The whole loan was tendered for at and above the minimum, the average price beiuir nearly £96. The amount offered below the minimum was £"029,000. The telegram says— '' T !ie negotiations for the New Zealand unguaranteed debentures proved a great success."
