ELECTION OF CANDIDATE FOR MINING CONFERENCE. SWITZERg GOL.DFIELD, mHE Government of Otago being aware that it is proposed by the Colonial Executive to introduce, during the ensuing Scission of the General Assembly, a Bill to consolidate and and amend the several Acts relating to the administration of the Goldfields ; and, being desirous of affording the Miners an opportunity of expressing their opinions in a most direct manner upqn the legislation necessary in their interest, and, further, of suggesting such alteration qf the Regulations as may be suitable to the advanced condition of gold mining in the Province, have resolved to appoint a Commission for that purpose ; and holders of Miners' Rights and Business Licenses are invited to select delegates from amongst themselves to take part in a Conference, to be held in Dunedin early in the month of May. The Otago Goldfield has therefore been divided into six districts, from each of which one delegate may be elected, in ac- j cordance with the following Regula- j tions : — 1. Every Delegate must be the holder of a current Miners' Right or Business License, issued on or before the Ist of January, 1877. 2. Nominations of proposed Delegates may be made by holders of Miners' Rights only, on or before Monday, May 1, in writing, addressed to " The Warden," and in the following form, which is to be signed by the proposer aud seconder :—: — FORM. Place and date. To the Warden at Switzers. We hereby nominate (insert name in full) as a Mining Delegate, to represent the District of Proposer. No. of Miners' Bight. Date qf Do. Wliere issued. Seconder. No. of Miners' Bight Date of Do. Where issued. 3. If two or more Delegates are nominated for any District, a poll by open voting will be taken on Thursday, May 4fch, at the places hereinafter named ; and the person for whom the largest number of votes may be polled will be declared elected. 4. Every voter much produce his current Miners' Right or Business License, dated on or before Ist January, 1871 ; and the Returning Officer shall stamp o r write across every Miners' Right and Business License so produced, the word " Voted " and the date. 5. Holders of Miners' Rights may record their votes in writing in the following form ; but in such case it will be requisite for the Miners' hight of the voter to be produced by the person entrusted with the voting paper.
