Simson'a Yards, Winding Creek, Switisers, at } o'clock, fi fi Head of prime Dairy Cows, in '/C\j full milk, selected by Mr. Lancaster for dairy purposes fronv the best herds in the country. Also, -i A Head of pail-fed Heifers. Together with the Thoroughbred imported horse YOUNQ ABDALLAH. Pedigree : — Young Abdallah is out of a thoi'oughbred mare, imported from Tasmania by John Weir, Esq., of the Western District, Victoria, ; is 7 years old, and has proved himself a sure foal getter. He has left some of the most promising stock in the province at the Clutha district. Abdallah (bred by Mr. Batson in 3847) was got by The Provost, out of Barbara ; Barbara was by Plenipotentiary out of iSath", who was got by a son of Dick Andrews' (Dick Andrews was by Joe Andrews, a son of Eclipse.) The dam of Saffi was got by Totteridge (Totteridge was by Dungannpn, a son of Eclipse), put of sister to Mariame t by Squirrel, outof Miss Meredith, by Cade (son of the Godolphin Arabian^, out of the Little Hartley Mare. The Little Hartley Mare was by Barlet's Childers (own brother to Flying Chiklers), out of Large Hartley Mare, whose pedigree in three generations can be traced to a royal mure. The Provost, the sire of Abdallah, was by The Saddler, out of Rebecca, by Lottery ; her dam by Cervantes, out of Anticipation ; mare of her dam by Beningbrook (Beningbrook by King Fergus, a son pf Eclipse. Also, 9 Horses, consisting of 3 good light harness Horses, and 6 weight-carrying Hacks. And 4 First-class Saddles, by Pollock, of Glasgow, from a pattern of Mr. Dowses, of Dunedin. Terms at Sale. The Auctioneer desires to draw attention to, this siyperior lot of cattle, the ■^hole of which will be sold without yeserve. PROVINCIAL COUNCIL. PRIVATE PETITIONS.— The followJ- ing resolution by the Private Petitions Committee, which was afterwards adopted by the Provincial Council, is published for general information : "In concluding their labours, your Committee would recommend to the consideration of the Council the advisability ' pf laying down as rule of this House, that all petitions should be first submitted to the Government, if possible, during the recess, before being presented to the Provincial Council ; so that the Government may be prepared beforehand witli any evidence they wish to procure, bearing on the prayer of the petitions ; and all applications for Reserves should be made to the Government during the recess, and brought clqwn to the Council with their opinion thereon. <<JOHN L.
