The usual monthly meeting of the Tuapeka Hospital Committee of Management was held in the Commercial Hotel, on Tuesday evening. Present -Messrs. Bastings (president), Simpson, Abel, Hiirrop, Farrer, M'Beath, Dr. Stewart, and Hayes, secietary. After minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed, Dv ijtew.ut subinitt'.d the monthly medical report, which was received. A discussion took place relative to an exchange of land which the committee were desirous of effecting with Mr Jeff ley. It appears that Mr Jeffrey owns a three quarter acre section adjoining the Hospital grounds on the main load, for which tho committee were authoiised to make a reasonable offer, in the shape of rural land. Mr Jeffrey's demand being between 300 and 400 acres, the commiEtee thought it unreasonable, and declined tv iccomuiend Government to accede to it. Ultimately Mr Gooday moved a reso'ution to to die tfijct, " That the secretary be instructed to m.ilve an offer to Mr Jetfery of ] 50 acres, which, if he should accept it, the committee will petition the Got eminent to sanction.'* Seconded l>y ?.Ir Abel and carried. Mr Abel then read t'm Vi-jiting Committee's report, from which it anpeired that the tender of Mr Humphrey, for tlie .sup, 1 of boilste.ids and mattresses, had been Mceepttd Uepoi t adopted. A curious accident occuned at the Blue Spur on Wednesda y last. The driving was discontinued for that day, in order to allow the water to drain away. On the following dny, a shareholder of the name of Geoige Ports proceeded to resume operations, when he foun 1 the drive filled with fi edamp, which, coming in contsict with the lighted caudle, causing an explosion, compelling Mr Potts to leave the tunnel in a lemarkably rapid manner. With, the exception of a slight singing, Mr Potts sustained no material injury.
