THE LATE BAZAAR.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, — I was surprised and greatly disappointed at not seeing iv your last i-sue a letter from S'>ine Christain resident, condemnatory of the manner in which the late Church of Eugland Bazaar was conducted throughout. Is it not lamentable to think that the house of prayer cannot be upheld without having recourse to such abominable and \inchristian-like modes of extorting money us were practiced on the occasion to which 1 refer ? It was painful to see the ladies who took part in the proceedings, clinging to the coat of every gentleman who entered the room, and insisting in putting his name down for a raffle "Yankee grab," or inveigling him into some other equally unrighteous trap. T do not blame those ladies so much as the projectors of this religious swindle, who placed them there that they, by their fascinations, mi^ht allure the weaker portion of their male visitors into a net, escape from which was only possible bj' leaving their money behind. Let theso people ask themselves these question — Is this the manner in which the religion of our Lord and Master should be supported ? Does it not grieve Him to see His children thus injuring, and not advocating His caus-i ? Let them ponder these questions, and they will see that however well such things may accord with the principles of a worldling, they are totally incompatible with tho feeling 3 and character of a Christian. — I am, &c,

Citizen.
