The immigrants by the Zealandia, from London, which arrived at Lyttelton a fortnight since, soon found engagements. The single men, with the exception of a few, who entertained rather extravagant notions cf colonial wages, were found situations at wages ranging from L 35 to L 45 per annum and found. Of the thirty families only ten remained for engagement at the end of the day. The wages for the latter ranged from LSO to L6oper annum. The Immigration Officer informs us that had there been double the number of single women and single men (farm labourers), they could have all been placed in situations at the wages -above quoted.
