Now for a fair estimate of the ex--pense of the journey : —

It is impossible to do the journey for less than this, and no person ought to undertake it for less than £120. The figures given in Hall's estimate in New Zealand are a delusion and a snare. I was too old a traveller to trust in him. I think I have told you all about the journey. I travelled, as quick as the mail all the way.
