BLUE SPUR ANNUAL SPORTS

These sports came off on Monday last, at the Blue Spur, in the presence of five or six hundred spectators, being a considerable increase upon the number present last year. The Lawrence Brass Band was in attendance, and played many of their favourite pieces during the day. The only thing which marred the enjoyment on the occasion was the clouds of dust which so often enveloped the scene of the performances. This, however, di 1 not much affect those who competed for the prizes, as they all went into the contest with spirit. The hotels were well patronised. We were glad to observe so many on the " soft tack" and an entire ab ence of people suffering from an overabundance of the stimulating fluids.
