Young Abdallah is out of a thoroughbred mare, imported from Tasmania by John Weir, Esq., of the Western District, Victoria ; is 7 years old, and has proved himself a sure foal getter. He has left some of the most promising stock in the province at the Clutha District. Abdallah (bred by Mr. Batson in 1847) was got by The Provost, out of Barbara ; Barbara was by Plenipotentiary out of Saflfi, who was got by a son of Dick Andrews' (Dick Andrews was by Joe Andrews, a son of Eclipse). ' The dam of Saffi was got by Totteridge (Totteridge was by Dungannon, a son of Eclipse), out of sister to Mariamp, by Squirrel, out of Miss Meredith, by Cade (son of the Godolphin Arabian), out of the Little Hartley Mare. The Little Hartley Mare was by Barlet's Childers (own brother to Flying Childers), out of Large Hartley Mare, whose pedigree in three generations can be traced to a royal mare. The Provost, the sire of Abdallah, was by The Saddler, out of Rebecca, by Lottery; her dam by Cervantes, out of Anticipation ; mare of her clam by Beningbrook (Beningbrook by King Fergus, a son of Eclipse. Terms : — £3 on delivery of mares. A 300 acre English grass paddock provided for mares, without responsibility, free for one week, after which "2s. 6d. per week will be charged ; or the option of a natural grass paddock free of charge.
