RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
(Before W. L. Simpson, Esq., R.M-) Saturday, Dec. 19. M'Swiney v. Ward.— Claim, £11. It appeared in this case that the defendant, who was residing at the Teviot, failed, and that the amount sought to be recovered was duly inserted in his schedule, which was produced. Case dismissed.
Monday, Dec. 19. (Before the same Magistrate.)
Keen v. Bastings, Coverlid, Barnett, Williams, Mears, Uren, and Harrou, being the present City Council. — Claim, £20, being amount due plaintiff for assessment and expenses of action brought against the city council. Mr. M'Coy, the solicitor for the Corporation, asked for an adjournment, as one of his principal witnesses was absent Mr. Keen had no objection, providing that he should not be put to any costs by the adjournment. Granted.
Labes v. Ross. — Claim, £6, being the amount of an 1.0. U. Mr. M'Coy appeared for the defendant, and asked for an adjournment. Granted at the expense of defendant.
