RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, LAWRENCE.

Labes v. Ross. — Claim, £0 15s. amount of lOU. Mr. M'Coy appeared for defendant, and asked for a non-suit, as a bill oi particulars did not accompany the summons. He also objected to the jurisdiction of the Court, as the matter arose through a mining dispute, and the Warden's Court was the proper Court. On considering the matter, the Bench granted a non-suit with costs, and advised the plaintiff to get the services of a solicitor, and have his case brought properly before the Court.
Drapper v. M'Laughlin. — Claim, £5 18s, for goods sold and delivered. »No appearance of defendant. Verdict for amount with costs.
Cox Bros., "Wotherstones, and Clarke, Blue Spur, applied for a hawker's license — ft ranted. The adjourned case of Keen v. Bastings, Mears and others, claim, £20, for assessment fee, Mr. M'Coy fur defendants, occupied the Court for several hours. The Bench deferred judgment to a future day.
