COMMERCIAL.
Messrs Wright, Stkphenson, and Co., report, for the week ending 10th December, as follows :—: —
Fat Cattle. — Although none have been yarded this week, the trade are fairly Applied. We quote prime quality, 22s <ijf per lOOlbs ; middling do, 20s. Fat sheep. — We do not hear of any sales having been effected. The large stocks in the hands of the butchers are being slowly absorbed, and until this is completed, little business in this class of stock can be expected. We quote prime quality, shorn, 2d to 2|d per lb. Fat Lambs. — We sold 70 of middling to prime quality. Prime quality brought 9s 3d per head ; second do, 7s to 7s 9d. Store Cattle. — Xo transactions. We have enquiries for good 3 and 4 year old bullocks for paddock fattening. We quote 3 and 4 year old bullocks, L 4 to L4ss ; mixed cattle, L 2 to L 2 10s.
Store sheep. — As the runholders are busily engaged shearing, very few are offering. We sold 600 half-bred 2 and 4-tooth ewes, shorn, at 4s 9d ; and 400 merino ewes, shorn, at 3s. We quote 4-tooth half-breds, 5s to Gs ; according to quality ; merino wethers, 4 and 6-tooth 3s 6d to 4s.
