M'Clelland v. M'Farland. Claim, L 4 19s 3d. . Verdict for L 2 9s 3d. j • Those two actions arose to a great . extent; through the parties' want of knowledge of-book-keeping. It ap.peared that M'Farland and M'Clelland are both bullock drivers, - maiding at Tapanui, and agreed to drive on the roads together, M'Farland allowing!

This state of affairs ran on for 9 or 10 months, and on attempting to settle it, both became dissatisfied, the one doubtful of the other's honesty. M'Clelland v, Crawford. Plaintiff sued for LLI for one horse sold and delivered, A set-off of L 3 15 put in and allowed. Verdict for L 6 15s, and costs, 19s.

M'Farlane v. M'Loughlin, For Ll4 2s 6d, Timber sold and delivered. Settled out of Court.

Ah Moon, Ah How, Ah Cow and Ah Man, Chinese miners at Waikaka, were arrested on the 14th inst., by Mr Constable Purdie, of Tapanui, for violently assaulting with long-handled shovels, Charles Strour and mates, (two) while working in a mining claim at Waikaka, on the 2nd inst. Tiie constable marched them to Switzers, a distance of 18 miles, when they were safely lodged at 7.30 p.m., in the lock-up. The following day they were broug it up and remanded for one week, to allow of Mr Blewitt's attendance as Interpreted. Bail was allowed.
