HAVES, Secretary. BAND OF HOPE. A MEETING, for the formation of a BAND OF HOPE, will be held in the Atheit.s:um, on the evening of Friday (to-morrow) the 21st inst., at 7 o'clock. The purpose of the Band of Hope is the training of the young in the principles of Temperance. A full attendance of the juveniles of the district is requested, along with as many of the parents as can attend. A meeting of the Committee of the Tuapeka Total Abstinence Society will be held at 8 o'clock. J. CROW, Secretary. GRAND ENTERTAINMENT In the Tuapeka Athenaeum, TO-NIGHT (Thursday, 20th Oct., 1870, at 8 p.m.) MR. CHARLES SYKES, The Somatic Conjurer & Brilliant Pianist, Assisted by MR. J. DIXON, The Inimitable Negro Delineator, And several Local Amateurs. Mr. Sykes has kindly promised to present one-third of the proceeds to the Tuapeka Hospital. By special request, Mr. Sykes will appear in the Schoolroom, Blue Spur, on Friday evening, 21st October. Dancing after the programme is finished, when Mr. Sykes will preside at the pianaforte.
