TUAPEKA GOLDFIELS' HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Hospital was held in the Commercial Hotel on Tuesday, 27th ult. Present — H. Bastings, Esq., president, and the following members of committee :—: — Messrs. Simpson, Harrop, Farrer, M'Nickle, Abel, Thompson, Smith, Dr. Halley, and Mr. Hayes, secretary. The Besident Surgeon was also present.

The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The Surgeon's iisual report was laid on the table, from which it appeared that nine patients had been admitted into the Hospital during the month, all of whom were non-paying.

Mr. Smith said that he knew two o^ three patients who were able to pay and who had got into the Hospita through false representations.

Robertson, sd. per quafc ; Donald M'Alpine, 6d. Lowest tocepted. Interment of dead. — Mears, j2. Accepted. Only tender. Coals and wood. — G-eorge Wai er, lignite, per ton, £1 ; firewood, £2 3s. per cord ; Wm. Smith, firewood, £2 Bs. 6d. per cord. Mr. Walker's accepted. / Bread. — Harris, Bd. per 41b. oaf; Clarke, 9d. do. Lowest accepted. Meat. — Mr. M'Kirmnie and Mr. Smith tendered for this, but Mr. Smith's tender being lowest, it was accepted. Groceries. — Mr. Grirdwood anc Mr. Arthur tendered for this, Mr. Ar hur's being lowest was accepted. I Dr. Halley stated that the comnittee had moved some years ago to get a galvanic battery, but as yet they had not got one. He thought that as Mr. Harrop was sending home for some goods, this would be a good opportunity to get one cheap. After some discussion, it was moved and seconded that Mr. Harrop be instructed to procure one at a cost n^^fc exceed £5. '•^^V Messrs. Bastings, Abel, and Dr. Halley, were appointed a sub-committee t^aake arrangements for two benefits to come off before the 30th November. Mr. M'Nickle took the place oh the Visiting Committee of Mr. M'Ssnney, who retired by rotatipn. !
