COMMERCIAL.
Wheat rose in Liverpool to 12s per cental, and is now firm at 11s 3d. The markets in California much disturbed. Good wheat is at 1 dollar 60 cents. Wqql shows an upward tendency, an advance of Id 2d being maintained. New Zealand flax and gum are firm at last quotations, as also are hides. A bpecjal telegram to the San Franpisco Bulletin, dated August 9th, says : — Colsols are at 91£ for money, and 91f for account. Tallow meets with quick sale, and the advances of Is ia steadily maintained, in consequence of the probability of Russia being involved in the war. Fine preserved mutton is at 403 to 43s 3d. Australian is dull, and nq sales have taken place. Wool is also dull. Sales have been made at fair prices, but there is practically nothing doing. Hidps are neglected. In New Zealand flax, low qualities are neglected, but fair qualities are firm. Paris, August 10th. The Bourse is firm. The Bank of France has reduced the rate of discount to 6 per cent.'
